Liquid cooling is gaining ground in data centres as AI servers produce ever more heat. It is often assumed that these circuits need stainless steel. IMI tested whether its own dezincification-resistant AMETAL brass is a reliable alternative.
The test
- Carried out with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, following ASTM D8040.
- Fluids tested: Dowfrost LC25 and Dynalene LC-PG (PG25 class).
The results
| Corrosion rate at 88 °C | below 8 μm/year |
|---|---|
| Corrosion rate at 4 °C | below 3 μm/year |
| Industry limit for brass | ≤ 11.7 μm/year |
The products IMI names for such applications include TA-Smart, TA-Modulator and STAD, as well as the Simply Vento degasser.
